Wolf devours MICS

Wolf Industrial Systems Inc., Uxbridge ON, has assumed the operations of sister company McLaren Industrial Computer Sales Inc. (MICS) and will continue to partner with manufacturers; ATI Technologies, Kontron, General Micro Systems, Elma Electronic, APIX, Axiom, Jumptec, American Portwell Technology, Rittal International, Advantech, Acrosser, CyberOptics, Sealevel, Acces I/O Products, Quatech, ACS-Tech80, and Intermas.

MICS has been a representative and distributor for embedded board, component, and systems manufacturers since 1990. Wolf was founded five years ago to provide services such as embedded board distribution, systems integration, PCB design, mechanical design, and product customization.

The move to unify the two companies was made to streamline operations and better respond to the realities of today’s marketplace, according to Craig McLaren, president of both companies. “The role of the manufacturer’s representative has changed. We think that Wolf Industrial Systems, with its concentration on embedded board distribution, hardware and software engineering, systems design, and value-added services exemplifies the future,” McLaren says, “What customers really want are solutions to problems — how to do something better, faster, or less expensively. Whether that involves defining the benefits and features of several vendors’ solutions, customizing, designing new products, combining products from several vendors, or even telling them it can’t be done, our role is as a partner in this process.”

As well as absorbing MICS, Wolf is also looking to expand operations by partnering with additional manufacturers looking for value-added distribution/representation. “We strive to put together the best solution to a customer requirement, and are always looking for new and better ways to accomplish this,” McLaren says.
